Pt. Parameshwar Hegde is an internationally known master performer of Hindustani Khayal Music.Tonal purity, brilliant taan and bol layakari (rhythmic play of lyrics), and sweetness of sound are key features of his music. Over the course of his training with the great Pt. Basavraj Rajguru for over 15 years, Hegde-ji imbibed the richness and variety of the Kirana, Patiala and Gwalior Gharanas. Over years of experimentation and concert experience, he has evolved a style that is at once rich in melody and expressiveness (bhaava) and versatile. He also has a vast repertoire of Kannada Padas and Vachanas (devotional poetry of 12th-15th century AD Kannada saint composers) and Bhajans.

In 1994, he founded the Rajguru Smrithi Trust in Bangalore-- a non-profit that show-cases upcoming classical music talent and also brings well acknowledged artists to perform in the area. The newly established Parameshwar Hegde Music Academy, where Hegde-ji himself teaches every day, goes further in providing classical music education.
