"Ranjayathi iti Raagah". In Sanskrit, this means, "that which colours the mind is a Raaga."
Indian classical music is governed by the concepts of Raaga (Melody), Taala (Rhythm) and Bhaava (Emotion).
The Raagas and compositions may be ancient or new, but the music itself is created afresh each time as the musician interprets them using his/her own creative energy and aesthetics.
